Golf Information
Pace of Play

Old Hickory Golf Club is committed to delivering extraordinary golf experiences played at an enjoyable pace. It is our expectation that every golfer accepts the responsibility to maintain their position on the course relative to the targeted pace of play time.

Our goal is for each guest to be able to play at a pace that is comfortable and enjoyable for them, and as such, we encourage you to choose a tee time that aligns your preferred pace of play with the expectations detailed on this page.

A review of our pace of play data indicates the pace targets below are reasonable targets and optimize the experience for all guests.  Daily course conditions including rain delays, frost delays, or cart path restrictions can affect these targets.

Start Time Target Pace
First Off - 8:50AM 4 Hours
9AM-11AM 4 Hours & 15 Minutes
After 11AM 4 Hours & 30 Minutes

Your correct position on the course is immediately behind the group in front of you, not immediately in front of the group behind you. Arrive at your next shot just before the group in front leaves the area in front of you. If you are consistently not able to keep up and a gap opens in front of you, invite the group behind you to play through.

Pace of play is tracked by GPS and verified by Golf Shop Staff. In the event that a group is out of position or causing undue delay:

  1. An initial friendly reminder will be sent on the cart screen. A second reminder may be sent if groups do not regain position.
  2. If necessary, a player assistant may provide a friendly reminder of expectations.
  3. Act as a forecaddie to assist groups in regaining position.

Thank you for doing your part to maintain pace of play. We value your time and are honored to serve you.

We encourage all players to play from a set of tees best suited to their driving distance. In addition to providing more enjoyment for golfers, teeing it forward also can be one of the most important steps that golfers take in improving pace of play. As a guideline, you should be able to consistently and comfortably reach each green in regulation from the tees you choose to play. Take into account the playing conditions for that day. If weather conditions are causing the course to play longer, factor in the loss of distance and select your tees accordingly.

Average Driving Distance Suggested Tee Markers Total Course Yardage Rating/Slope
290+ Yards Blue 6,727 72.9/128
260 Yards White 6,433 71.5/125
230 Yards Hickory 6,127 70.2/122
215 Yards Silver 5,775 68.6/118
200 Yards Oak 5,529 67.5/116
175 Yards Yellow 5,355 66.6/114 (M) 71.6/121 (W)
150 Yards Green 4,613 66.9/113

We ask for 24+ hours’ notice for tee time cancellations. In the event of inclement weather, tee times may be cancelled up until booked time.

Please be considerate and call to make any cancellations or changes to booked tee times.

In order to give all Guests the opportunity to play, we do try to pair players into foursomes whenever practical. This promotes a consistent pace of play. For those wishing to play alone, we recommend booking at off peak times or during twilight hours.

Additionally, while we can accommodate any size party or group of golfers, we limit players to a maximum of 4 Guests per tee time. A party of 5 would be booked as a threesome and twosome, with the understanding that each of these may be paired to fill out foursomes for each tee time. A five some may be permitted to play during off-peak times, with prior approval from the pro-shop and if they maintain proper pace.

Non-player riders are permitted for a nominal fee. This fee covers the costs of providing a golf cart.

Proper golf attire. Shirts must have sleeves and collars are preferred. No cut-offs, short-shorts, tank tops, sweat suits or other inappropriate attire will be accepted. Women may wear sleeveless golf shirts.

In case of inclement weather (severe thunderstorms or heavy rain), cancellation of tee-times will be accepted until time of play. If you begin your round and cannot finish due to inclement weather, you will receive a prorated rain check (based on the green fee paid and the number of holes played).
